As a parent of a young girl, I always wanted her to be touched by music and all the great things that playing an instrument can bring to her adult life.  At the age of four, we started with the Suzuki method, and after 2 years working with the program, we didn’t want to continue.  I thought, that was the end of violin for my daughter until one autumn day of 2014 my daughter decided to give the violin another try and we started with Mrs. Elyssa Perkins.  My daughter’s life changed awakening the love for the violin, for the music and most of all, the love for practice.

After a couple of weeks of classes I saw my daughter reading music and playing it on her violin.  They were working on easy and difficult pieces but for my daughter all was just fun.  Eight months later my daughter auditioned for the Mount Royal University strings orchestra where she was admitted.  Several presentations during the year also helped my daughter to continue with her motivation and self-confidence.  On her second year the main goal was the RCM examination, very hard, both Elyssa and my daughter worked as it was reflected on the marks with honors that my daughter received.

Mrs. Elyssa Perkins has strong musical foundation and her violin skills are solid, but most of all she is a natural teacher, very organized, methodical, showing the students the right path, style and the easy way of learning the many techniques that playing the violin requires.  On top of all her musical and teacher’s attributes, Mrs. Perkins has an amazing loving personality that my daughter always enjoys and wanted her as her violin teacher.  If you are looking for the best Violin teacher, Mrs. Perkins is one of them.
